Nestled amidst stunning mountainous terrain in Bandung, the Bandung Giri Gahana Golf Resort is a real treasure. Designed by Michael Coates & Associates, this course was opened for play in 1989 and is located at an altitude of 900 meters above sea level. The site offers a delightful climate with cool and fresh air, particularly in the morning and late afternoon. The Bandung Giri Gahana Golf Resort layout is of immaculate quality with plenty of fabulous holes, just like other newer courses in Indonesia that were designed by internationally acclaimed designers.
This golf course features two nine-hole loops measuring 7176 yards from the championship tees. The Giri Course is the front 9, while the Gahana Course is the back nine. The Giri Course winds its way through mature trees and generally offers generous fairways flanked with large native trees and skillfully positioned fairway bunkers, allowing golfers to be aggressive from the tee. Meanwhile, the Bandung Giri Gahana Golf Resort features plenty of elevation and undulation, which makes for an interesting contrast. Correct club selection and distance measuring are crucial to scoring well here.
While the facilities at Bandung Giri Gahana Golf Resort are adequate, they could be better maintained. The locker rooms are spacious and clean, and the clubhouse restaurant serves tasty Indonesian cuisine at reasonable prices. The resort hotel, which is situated on a hill in the distance, is impressive but mostly caters to local visitors wanting to escape from the city. The well-trained caddies are on hand to offer good playing advice and help with club selection and green reading.
