Nestled within the Philippine Air Force’s pilot training and education facilities in Lipa City, Batangas, you’ll discover the Fernando Airbase Golf and Country Club. Named after the base it resides on, this renowned golf club boasts an expansive 18-hole course that is long and wide.
While the openness of the course might deceive some players, the unpredictable winds can pose a challenge to their game. Interestingly, the golf course was not initially part of the airbase’s blueprint, as evidenced by the ingenious placement of three fairways on the parade grounds. The course’s designer skillfully maximized the available space within the base to incorporate the course seamlessly.
The course is divided into two distinct sections, with the front nine often likened to a “links course,” while the back nine features more trees lining the fairways, akin to traditional golf courses. The most intriguing feature of the Fernando Airbase Golf and Country Club is the monstrous 705-yard Par 6 on hole number 18.
The club also offers a range of facilities to cater to players’ needs, including a driving range, practice putting green, and tee houses. The clubhouse houses a pro shop and function rooms, providing additional amenities for visitors.
