The Legend Valley Country Club (also known as BRG Rose Canyon golf resort) in Ha Nam, Vietnam, is taking shape with the construction of the first of two 18-hole courses designed by Nicklaus Design for developer BRG Group. The site, about an hour’s drive from Hanoi, features mountainous terrain, flatlands, and water-filled excavations, and the course will be surrounded by a housing development and a hotel with more than 200 rooms. The South course opens to the public in May 2023, with the North course beginning construction after the South’s completion.
The South course of Legend Valley Country Club, with yards ranging from 5,252 to 7,278, will offer golfers a challenging experience, with water in play on every hole. Grading work is progressing well, with Shang Yih Construction completing half of the earthworks despite wet weather, Covid cases among workers, and difficult terrain. WR RockGroup Construction has used materials harvested from the site to create dry-stacked walls that will retain tees, fairways, greens, and causeways, adding to the unique, intimate atmosphere of the course.
Senior design associate Sean Quinn describes the site as “truly a spectacular site,” and each hole has its own distinctive features, with some green sites backed by 60-meter-high cliff formations. The third, sixth, and ninth holes on the front nine, and the eleventh, fifteenth, and eighteenth on the back nine are particular standouts that require good golfing skills while playing at Legend Valley Country Club in Ha Nam.
