Nuwara Eliya Golf Club was founded in 1889, becoming one of the oldest golf courses in Aia. It is said to have an unparalleled history and topography in Sri Lanka.
Nuwara Eliya Golf Club is an 18-hole par 71 course. At the time of construction, it was for the rest and recreation of Bristish tea planters in the Nuwara Eliya district. Nowadays, after several times of upgradation, it features the quaint admixture of old-world charm and state-of-the-art trappings.
Nuwara Eliya Golf Club is 6070 yards long, trademarking long and narrow fairways. The undulating hills and water hazards create a series of stimulating challenges, keeping players on their toes through the golf round. Golfers may also take issues with the eucalyptus trees and cypresses in the surroundings.
The 6th and 14th are said to be the signatures of Nuwara Eliya Golf Club. The par-5 539-yard 6th has a dogleg on the left and the largest green of the course. Be aware of the small stream slashing across the fairways while conquering this hole.
In the back nine, you will find the 14th of the most challenging, where your ball will start from an elevated tee, plunge to the left, and then rise again to a raised partially-visible green. Therefore, a high level of accuracy is compulsory to reach the 18th hole.
Despite the demanding golf hazards, Nuwara Eliya Golf Club attracts players of all abilities. There is a putting green for golfers to practice before entering the course. Teaching pros are also available for beginners of this sport if needed.
