Paarl Golf Club, dating back to 1908, is nestled in South Africa’s renowned Cape winelands, moving to its current picturesque location in 1954. However, it wasn’t until the late 1990s that significant transformations took place, leading to the redesign of its original course and the introduction of an additional nine holes.
This 27-hole complex, part of the scenic Boschenmeer Golf Estate, was crafted with insights from professional golfer David Frost and architect Danie Obermeyer. The course segments – the River Nine Course, Paarl Nine Course, and Boschenmeer Nine Course – present diverse challenges, particularly with water hazards along the Berg River and around strategic ponds.
Highlights include the deceiving simplicity of the 8th hole, the strategic complexity of the 13th, and the breathtaking views and demanding play of the 22nd hole, the club’s signature. These elements, combined with the estate’s lush landscapes, provide a memorable golfing experience reflecting the region’s natural beauty and winemaking heritage.
