Established in its current locale in 1976, Parow Golf Club in South Africa has evolved from a challenging terrain into a welcoming parkland course, as per the designs by Ken Elkin.
Initially, the dense Port Jackson bush that fringed the fairways posed a considerable challenge, punishing any errant shots. Over time, the course underwent significant transformations; the bush was cleared, fairways broadened, and various water features were introduced, enhancing both the playability and aesthetic appeal of the course.
Today, Parow Golf Club is celebrated for its well-maintained greens composed of bent and poa grasses, providing true and fast playing surfaces. The fairways, a blend of Kikuyu and cape winter grass, along with clearly defined semi-rough and newly paved cart pathways, offer a pleasant and accessible golfing experience. The course’s gentle contours and the presence of diverse birdlife further contribute to its charm, making it a favorite among golfers seeking both challenge and tranquility.
