Wanderers Golf Club

Rudd Rd, Illovo, Johannesburg, 2116, South Africa

The Wanderers Golf Club is a prime example of how skillful design can maximize limited space. The course, originally laid out by Bob Grimsdell, ingeniously incorporates championship tees in every corner of the property. Despite losing three opening holes to the construction of the Wanderers Cricket Stadium in the 1950s, the club has maintained a challenging and engaging layout. The modern stadium now provides a unique backdrop to the par-five 10th hole, the longest on the course at 533 meters.

Located centrally in Gauteng, the Wanderers Golf Club is known for its welcoming and sociable membership. The par 71 course features a distinctive routing with three par-3s on the back nine and only one on the front. The front nine includes a newly extended opening hole, now a 516-meter par 5, and seven par 4s. Golfers will find two strong par 4s on each nine, where a driver is essential.
