The Waterkloof Golf Club is perched on the Waterkloof Ridge, offering panoramic views of the R21 highway and the Groenkloof Nature Reserve, with the famous Voortrekker Monument in close proximity, just under 5 kilometers away from the club.
Established in 1969 as Monument Golf Club, the club underwent a name change to Waterkloof Golf Club in 2006 following its transformation into a residential estate a couple of years prior. Renowned golf course architect Peter Matkovich was enlisted to revamp the layout in 2004, focusing on creating challenging greens that add intrigue to a course known for its forgiving width.
Playing to a par of 72, the course stretches over 6,677 meters from the back tees, featuring a layout where the holes are organized as two sets of returning nines, culminating side by side with a scenic pond separating the 9th and 18th greens right in front of the clubhouse.
Highlighted holes include the lengthy and narrow stroke index 3 par four 3rd, the water-guarded par four 5th with a left-side green, and the picturesque par three 8th with a pond on the right.
Navigating the back nine presents challenges like the demanding par four 12th, which tightens and curves left near the green, and the final short hole at the par three 17th, introducing yet another water hazard to the left of the green.
